Creating Your Web Page:

An Introduction to the Basics

Download NVU

Students of the University of Scranton MUST make adjustments to their Tiger account before proceeding.

NVU is a simple to use editor.  If you are starting a new page, just click on File-New.  If you have a page already published, navigate to the page using the browser of your choice then copy the address for the page by right clicking and copying  the location out of  the appropriate browser window.  Having copied the address, go to NVU click on File-Open Web Location and then paste the address into that window.  Having done that click on the Create button and poof the page appears.

To save the page you are working on,  move the arrow over the Save button and left-click once. Now you will see a window appear. This window is to let you choose where in the computer you want to save your webpage. First, locate the box at the top of the window and left-click the down arrow that is inside the box, on the right side. After doing this you will see a list of various items drop down, extending from the top box. Locate the item that has a capitol letter c with a colon in parenthesis next to its icon. [i.e. (C: )] You must move the arrow over this item and again single left-click.   (This page is still under construction - I'm having trouble following it.)

Now that you have the selected C: in the top box of the window, you will now see a list of the Files/Folders on the C Drive. You can save your file right here, don't worry about putting it in a folder.

At the top of the screen you will see numerous square blocks. These blocks represent different tools that are there to help you. Starting with the blocks in the upper left corner of the screen, we will go through them horizontally, and then move to the next line.
