This article discuses, as the title suggests, the family environments and experiences that might be associated with the development of borderline personality disorder. While they examined many experiences, such as physical abuse and separation, the only significant predictor of borderline personality disorder was sexual abuse. They also added that further study would need to be conducted regarding sexual abuse and general family environment.
I enjoyed this article. It was easy to follow, as most of the articles that I have found have been. It addresses an important issue when dealing with this disorder, what causes it. Additionally, what needs further study is always of importance and it is significant that they include that.
