In two short seasons, Kevin Dugan has completely reenergized The University of Scranton men’s lacrosse program.

His hard work, attention to detail and commitment to excellence was never more evident than this past season.  With a roster that included 28 freshmen among its 37 players, he led the Royals to a school-record 12 wins and a berth in the Landmark Conference tournament.  Scranton also had four players earn all-conference honors, the most for the program since 1995.

Dugan’s first season also produced some impressive results, as the Royals won seven games--the most for the program since 2003--and qualified for the Middle Atlantic Conference tournament for only the third time in school history.

In 2006, he served as an assistant coach at Yale University after successfully turning around the fortunes of Gordon College, an NCAA Division III program located in Wenham, Massachusetts, where he served as its head coach from 2003 through 2005.  After a 4-9 record in his first season, Gordon College improved to 9-4 in 2005, which earned him the Commonwealth Coast Conference Coach of the Year award.   In addition, six of his players earned all-conference honors.

Prior to his appointment at Gordon College, Dugan served as assistant lacrosse coach/offensive coordinator at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, West Virginia, where he worked closely with all-Americans Jeremy Johnson (2nd-team, attack) and Nick Asmo (honorable mention, goalie).  He has also worked at numerous lacrosse camps throughout the Middle Atlantic and New England states.

A native of Avon, New Jersey, Dugan was a midfielder for the Royals in 1998 and 1999.  He scored 21 goals and assisted on 13 others to finish with 34 total points as Scranton won a then school-record 11 games and advanced to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament in 1999.  He transferred to the University of Notre Dame and was a member of two highly successful teams there.  In 2000, the Fighting Irish advanced to quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I tournament while the 2001 squad made it to the semifinals of the NCAAs before losing to then fifth-ranked Syracuse, 12-5, to cap off a 14-2 season.  Notre Dame also won back-to-back Great Western Lacrosse League titles.

Off the field, Dugan was twice named to the Faculty Board of Athletics for academic honors and was a member of the Monogram Club in 2001.  He graduated from Notre Dame with a degree in finance and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Wheeling Jesuit.

Dugan's professional affiliations include being a committee member of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Top 20 poll in 2005 and a conference representative for the 2004 and 2005 USILA North-South Game.
