Becky Davis, an assistant coach with the Royal women’s lacrosse program for three seasonsfinished up her first season as head coach in 2007.  Scranton won five of its last seven games to qualify for the Middle Atlantic Conference tournament for the seventh straight year.

She replaced Brenda Brewer, who resigned to become the head women’s lacrosse coach at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.  Brewer led the Royals to a five-year record of 50-31 (.617) from 2000 through 2002 and again from 2005 through 2006.  She also led Scranton to four Middle Atlantic Conference (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006) and two Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic tournament appearances (2001, 2005).

A native of Aston, Pennsylvania, Davis joined the Royal coaching staff in 2004 under then head coach Linda Drapeau.  That season, Scranton won its second straight Middle Atlantic Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Division III championships for the second consecutive year to cap off a school-record 14-win campaign.

Upon graduation from Sun Valley High School, where she was a four-year letter-winner and three-year starter on the girls’ lacrosse team, Davis enrolled at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She played two seasons of lacrosse and was the Dukes’ third-leading scorer during the 1998 season.  She eventually transferred to West Chester University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and secondary education in May 2002.  For two seasons (2000, 2001), she served as assistant coach of the girls’ lacrosse program at Strath Haven High School and was the head girls’ lacrosse coach at Chichester High School for one year, in 2002.  She has also served as a volunteer coach for the Swarthmore Youth Lacrosse Program.

Becky and her husband, Jim, and son, Evan, reside in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.
