Computer Skills for the Workplace

A 24 hour, instructor lead program, will provide participants with practical, workplace computer skills.   The program will assist you in perfecting and fine tuning your skills with a focus on the tasks and activities used in most workplaces.   Employers seek employees with proficient computer skill sets primarily using Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Access.   

The program consist of four parts; broken into segments to assist participants in building and perfecting skills.,   Students will learn how to create & organize electronic files and folders; generate spreadsheets to calculate and keep track of data, an overview of the inner workings of databases, and email.

Workplace Computing

Learn computer basics, the essentials tasks required to feel comfortable and confident using a computer.   Learn the fundamentals of computing, including important concepts and terminology, the components of the Windows screen, task bar, and Internet Explorer, and how to create folders and files.

Word Processing in the Workplace

Word Processing programs allow you to file, edit, insert, and format information. Tools include: a Thesaurus, Spell Check and features for page and screen layout.  This word-processing program contains many useful features.

Spreadsheets in the Workplace

If you work with numbers, budgets, and expenses, Excel is for you. It is the spreadsheet tool of Microsoft Office products. You will learn how to perform calculations, and add columns of numbers in seconds. Use this software to create financial statements, budgets, business reports and databases to chart data.

Databases

At the heart of any organization is the need to keep track of data. Whether the data is related to customers, transactions or products database management systems allow you track data in a business. This portion of the course gives the student an overview of database systems and how they are used in an organization.
