This course concentrates on students new to the Macintosh environment, whether coming from the Windows side, or those who have purchased a Mac and would like to learn how to use a Mac efficiently.

Troubleshooting the Mac

            Although not an I.T. course, students will learn how to manage and maintain their Macs and keep them running at full capacity. Geared toward the Mac user looking to solve normal operating system and typical hardware issues, themselves, this class examines the various Macs available today and addresses the most common problems and how to fix them.

            Among the subjects covered:

            a.  Getting to know the Mac environment

            b.  Folder structure, the Trash, and icon details

            c.  Installing, Uninstalling Applications

            d.  Exchanging Data with Macs, Windows PCs

            e.  Understanding Automator and AppleScript

            g.  Use BootCamp to partition hard drive for Windows XP, Vista

            h.  The System Preferences

            i.  Adding Users, Creating Accounts, Sharing

            j.  Networking, File Sharing with Windows and Remote

            k.  Hardware Issues, drives, printers, etc.

            L.  Application/ Startup problems, fixes

            m.  Fixing Permissions, Force Quitting
