The Dexter Hanley student government met on February 9, 2003. President, Beverly OHora brought the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m.
President Beverly OHora gave the opening prayer and then announced our newest member, Kathleena Monta.
In attendance: President Beverly OHora, Vice President Theresa Sandrowicz, Secretary Wendy Thomas, Corresponding Secretary Dawn Lavelle, LeAnne Moran, Mary Kay Moran, John Major, Rosann Morgan, Kathy Elkins, Leo Lynn, Judy Kleeman-Doherty and Dr. Elizabeth Jacob.
Absent members: Nancy Kizer, Treasurer Betsy Minello, Kim Bochicchio, Nick Mielo, and Dr. Wayne Cunningham, Colleen Casey and Miriam Velazquez.
No treasurers report available.
Nick Mielo was unable to attend- no report on the U of S Council meeting.
A Spring Break trip is slated to go to Lancaster, Pa. Trip reservations and tickets for Daniel, A Dream, A Den, A Deliverer can be made with Bev OHora - $25 for students/$55 for guests.
Backpack to Briefcases Etiquette Dinner- Tuesday, March 25 from 5:30 8:00pm on the 5th floor of Brennan Hall. Dexter Hanley will have 10 tickets available with preference to senior students.
The Dexter Hanley shirts update The government members received polo shirts in the color purple to be worn at functions, such as fall and spring trips, as where members can be easily recognizable to students needing assistance.
Spring Newsletter, The Royal Way The committee is working on the Spring 2003 newsletter. Volunteers for the committee, articles and/or pictures are needed. Feel free to submit articles or pictures to John Major, Kathy Elkins or Colleen Casey: Room 122, Dexter Hanley mailbox.
Vice President Theresa Sandrowicz attended the University of Scranton Council meeting to deliver concerns by Dexter Hanley.
Graduation Dinner on May 9,2003 from 6-11pm. - The location for the party is the Radisson Hotels small ballroom, Scranton. The menu was discussed and voted on.
Trustees Days February 24 Qualities Looked For in a New University President, Estate 1942 room and various other locations. February 25 at 7:00am for breakfast for all interested Elizabeth Jacob and Tom Collins with Education for International Understanding.
Womens Conference open to women in organizations on campus with leadership positions. To be held in Gunster Hall, February 28 from 11:30 1:00pm
A request for door prizes for a sociology department project, Hairdressers Project, has been noted. Kathy Elkins and Theresa Sandrowicz will be looking into it.
Cookbook Requests for recipes were mailed out to all Dexter Hanley students. Return of recipes that students desire to have included are needed ASAP.
Spring Trip to New York City It has been noted that Dexter Hanley has reserved 3 video buses for the trip. The tickets for the LION KING have been reserved. The tickets will be dealt out on a first come, first serve basis. The cost of tickets for participants is $25 through Dexter Hanley (normally $55 at the box office). The date for the trip is April 26th, 2003 with the buses leaving the University at 7:30am, to return the same night at approximately 10:00pm. This is always a great trip, so be sure to reserve your spot soon after receiving the announcement during the spring semester! The seats always go fast!!!
Pet Therapy update- Kathy Elkins has called the Humane Society about having someone from the staff attend our next scheduled meeting to discuss the event further.
Students and government members have the option of ordering fleece pullovers in charcoal or black - $22, fleece full-zipper front in charcoal or black - $25, denim in beige - $15, or denim in dark blue - $10. Sizes available are small, medium, large, X-large, and XX-large. All articles will display the University/Dexter Hanley insignia on the front. Flyers will be sent out to all Dexter Hanley students.

After assuring that all old business had been discussed, and no additional new business was brought to the table, President Beverly OHora brought the meeting to a close at 6:10pm.
Dexter Hanley will next meet on March 9, 2003 at 5pm. All Dexter Hanley students are encouraged to apply for membership in the government. (314 Brennan Hall)
