The Desktop and Instructional Resources department is responsible for all day-to-day installations, maintenance, upgrades, general diagnostics, and troubleshooting of software, hardware, and peripherals to faculty and staff computers at the University of Scranton.
Installations and Setups:As new systems are received the Desktop and Instructional Resources department will setup and install all necessary software on the new system. We will then contact the recipient of this system and schedule a "Data Migration". This is when we copy all contents of the end user's current computer to the new one. Once we have finished this process the system is forwarded to the Computer Maintenance Center to await for delivery. Other software installations are handled upon user's requests.
General diagnostics and Troubleshooting:The Desktop and Instructional Resources department will respond to end user's requests for software troubleshooting and repair. All University of Scranton faculty and staff can report issues via the Technology Support Center regarding any computer issue including e-mail, software, network connectivity, hardware, computing labs and related services.
Due to the large amount of software available to end users from different sources, Desktop and Instructional Resources will assign priority to software installed as listed in the Supported Software section below.
