Public Computing Labs
Locations:
- Brennan Hall, Room 102
- Weinberg Memorial Library, Pro Deo Room (open 24 hours)
Software:
- Telnet (access Academic Computing System Applications), FTP, Internet Explorer, MS Office 2003, Weinberg Memorial Library research tools.
Access:
- When you boot the computer, you will be required to enter your Username and Password. All of the software is accessible from the Start menu, grouped in logical sub-menus. When you are finished using the computer, click Start, Shut Down, OK.
ResNet
ResNet is available to on-campus residents who own their own computer. For more information, go to the ResNet home page at http://www.scranton.edu/resnet.
E-mail Access
Every registered student is provided with an e-mail account which allows them to easily send and receive attachments, graphics, Internet links, etc.
Using Express e-mail (in the campus computing labs):
- Click Start, Internet Tools, Internet Explorer
- Go to http://my.scranton.edu
- Enter your username and password
- Click on an email message to access the email channel
Using Mozilla Thunderbird - All new messages will be retrieved when you load Thunderbird. To get new
messages while in Thunderbird:
- Click the Get Mail button.
- To send a message, click the Write button.
- Enter the recipient's e-mail address on the To: line (ex: johndoe@hotmail.com).
- Enter the subject and enter the body of the message.
- Click the Send button.
- To reply to a message, click on the message to which you want to reply.
- Click the Reply button.
- Enter the body of the message.
- Click the Send button.
Changing your myScranton Password
- Go to http://my.scranton.edu
- Click on the Student, Faculty, or Staff tab
- Click on Self Service (UIS)
- Click Change your Single Sign on Password
- Complete the form and click the Change PIN button
Accessing Your E-mail from Remote Locations
You may access your IMAP e-mail from any computer which has an Internet browser.
- Go to http://my.scranton.edu.
- Log in using your username and password.
Self Service (UIS)
Self Service (UIS) lets you view your personal student address information, schedules, grades, account balances, holds and financial aid information.
- Use Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox to go to http://my.scranton.edu
- Login
- Click on the Student, Faculty, or Staff tab
- Click on Self Service (UIS)
- Click Student Services & Financial Aid
