Why An Internship ?

Benefits of an Internship

The Student:

  • Is presented with the opportunity for career exploration before they arrive at a specific career decision
     

  • Can apply the knowledge gained in the classroom to real world setting.
     

  •  Develops a network of professional contacts, which can assist them in future career development once they graduate
     

  • Develops self-confidence and positive work ethic
     

  • Begins to realize the knowledge, skills, and abilities that set the stage for positive professional job performance and understanding the  expectations of the professional world.
     

  • Obtains resume enhancing career experience.  
     

  • Increases their marketability to potential employers especially those who seek applicants with practical experience.  
     

  • Obtains information with regards to resumes, cover letter, interviewing, and  job search strategies, and many other skills that will be important to future employment searches.
     

  • Although some internships are unpaid, many provide some form of compensation
