Some accounting job titles and job descriptions reported by our graduates include:
Accountant
Prepares and analyzes financial reports on various operations such
as bookkeeping, tax returns, audits, and cost analyses, that provide managers
with the information they need to make decisions.
Financial Analyst
Budgets, forecasts, and compares actual results to plan for production
costs, manufacturing spending, R&D expenses, inventory, capital spending,
and cash flow. Develops and maintains standard product costs.
Auditor
Examines client or company financial records and reports to judge compliance
with standards of preparation and reporting. Includes reconciling cash,
confirming receivables, observing and testing the taking of inventory,
testing internal control and accounting records, preparing tax returns,
researching and counseling clients on tax problems, and providing management
consulting in the development of all financial operations.
Tax Associate
Assists in federal and state compliance. Assists with the Oracle conversion
of tax book depreciation and maintains tax calendar for distribution to
finance department. Provides audit support as assigned. Assists in 401(k)
and payroll.
Financial Planner
Analyzes clients' financial and investing needs and expectations. Creates
sound long-term investing strategies to best meet identified needs.
Claims Adjuster
Settles insurance claims by using various reports, physical evidence,
and the testimony of representatives.
Insurance Agent
Sells policies to individuals and businesses that wish to insure themselves
against future losses and accidents.
Risk Manager
Assists in writing computer programs to determine if booked accounts
are performing at intended risk and profit levels. Assists with analysis
of program output to determine risk level adjustments, target marketing
adjustments, scorecard revisions, or new scorecard development as needed.
Writes analysis to make recommendations for suggested actions.
