Middle States Self-Study 2008

The Self Study is a decennial process of self-evaluation for the purpose of institutional improvement and to attain or maintain accredited status with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The process involves examining the University's programs and services in light of the Middle States' Characteristics of Excellence in Higher Education and our own mission.

The University's Design for Self-Study document was finalized and approved by the Commission in spring 2006. The Design document outlined our plan for the Self-Study process.

During the 2006-2007 academic year, the Self-Study Steering Committee and its working groups gathered information and prepared reports on our relationship to each of the fourteen Characteristics of Excellence. Through the process, areas of strength and the need for improvements were identified. The reports from the working groups were incorporated in a draft institutional Self Study Report, shared with the University community in the fall of 2007. The results of this internal analysis have been documented in the University's final Self Study Report:

In February 2008, the Report was submitted to the Middle States Commission to demonstrate that the University meets the Commission's standards for accreditation. The self study process culminated with a validation of the Report conducted by a visiting team of external peer evaluators on March 30 - April 2. The University's accreditation was reaffirmed in July 2008. To view the visiting team's report and the reaffirmation letter, visit the drop down menu below.
