University Mission and Vision

Planning & Institutional Effectiveness Model

Strategic Planning In fall 2005, the University unveiled its strategic plan for 2005-2010: Pride, Passion, Promise: Shaping Our Jesuit Tradition. The plan is defined by four key strategic themes: educational excellence, campus community, economic strength, and civic engagement.

View the plan, and annual reports on its progress, at www.scranton.edu/strategicplan.

In fall 2009, the University will begin constructing its next strategic plan for 2010-2015. A University-wide planning day, held on October 27 th, is a key point in this process. Throughout the fall, winter, and spring months, the Planning Office, guided by the deliberations of the University Planning Committee, will lead the University in a comprehensive review of draft planning documents, culminating in the presentation of a proposed strategic plan for the University to its Board of Trustees in May 2009.

Information from the University Planning Committee’s review of environmental scans for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) will also inform the development of this plan. To view the SWOT document, click here.

Tactical Planning The strategic plan is incorporated into the everyday work of the University through a series of tactical plans, which themselves coordinate and guide the operational activities in the University’s various academic and administrative departments. These plans follow the University’s administrative structure, and include plans for Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Alumni & Public Relations, Student Affairs, Human Resources, Planning & Information Management, University Ministries, Finance, Civic Engagement, University Relations and Administrative Services/Facilities. More about the tactical planning process can found in the University’s Guide for Tactical Planners.
