Second Annual Guadalajara, Mexico, Study/Travel Tour

The trip includes:

• Roundtrip transportation by bus from Scranton to Newark, N.J.
• Roundtrip airfare with meals on a regularly scheduled jet (probably Continental)
• Transfer from Guadalajara airport to private homes in the area of UNIVA University
• Twenty nights room and board (3 meals per day) with a Mexican family selected by UNIVA
• Full-day panoramic tour of historic Guadalajara, including the world-famous Orozco murals
• Full-day excursion to artistic center of Tlaquepaque
• Full-day excursion (half-day tour, half-day exploration) of typical Mexican market San Juan de Dios
• Special performance of the world-renowned Ballet Folklórico of the Universidad de Guadalajara
• Special visits to other tourist attractions (as arranged)
• 30 hours of instruction in Spanish language by native speakers at UNIVA University with assistance of University of Scranton faculty
• 30 hours of instruction in contemporary Mexican culture and politics by UNIVA faculty with assistance of University of Scranton faculty (Spanish is the language of instruction)
• Transfer from UNIVA University to Guadalajara airport for return trip
• All taxes and security charges

Academic Credit: This study/tour is an academic course. Students register for and earn six credits, three in Spanish and three in Political Science. The course is approved for academic credit in the Humanities and Social Sciences areas (or in the free area) of both the new and old general education curricula. University of Scranton tuition for these credits, at half price, is additional. All academic requirements, including completion of assignments, attendance and participation, in the classes at UNIVA in Guadalajara, must be completed satisfactorily to ensure credit for the course. Note: Current enrollment in Intermediate Spanish (or a higher level) or the equivalent is a prerequisite for this course.
