-The National Honor Society in Psychology-

Founded September 4, 1929, this organization has established chapters in 843 colleges and universities in all 50 states. It's purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship, and advance the science of psychology. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society (APS).

Students become members by joining the chapter at the school where they are enrolled. Our local chapter was installed in May, 1969 and has remained an active organization at the University of Scranton since. Students must be a declared major or minor in psychology (or a related field), rank in the top 35th percentile in general scholarship, and show superior scholarship in psychology.
