Internship Experiences

Supervised experiential learning internships are designed to broaden the educational experiences of students through practical learning experience and work assignments with governmental and/or community agencies in the fields of sociology, criminal justice and gerontology. These experiences are optional and no student is required to take an elective internship experience. The internship experiences are listed as SOC 480-481, CJ 480-481, GERO 480-481, and are limited to juniors and seniors.

The department is continually grateful to many agencies that allowed our students to gain valuable internship learning experiences. Some of those agencies were: Hospice St. John, U.S. Marshal's Service, Lackawanna County District Attorney's Office, Dunmore Police Department, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, Lackawanna County Adult Probation and Parole, Lackawanna County Juvenile Probation Office, Juvenile Detention Center in Lackawanna County, St. Michael's School for Boys, Extended Care Unit of the Moses Taylor Hospital, United Neighborhood Centers, Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center, St. Mary's Villa, Lackawanna County Prison Home Detention Center, Cali Law Office, Moses Taylor Hospital Security Department, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (Baltimore, MD), U.S. Customs Service (Philadelphia, PA), Wal-Mart (Loss Prevention), J.C.
