SIGMA PHI OMEGA

Sigma Phi Omega is the National Honor Society in Gerontology. Its purpose is to recognize the excellence of those students who study gerontology. Our local gamma epsilon chapter was installed in May, 1997. Basic requirements are:

  • junior status
  • gerontology major or minor in gerontology/aging studies and related fields
  • at least 18 credits completed in gerontology/aging studies
  • grade point average of 3.3 prior to admission to candidacy

A departmental induction ceremony/banquet is usually held each academic year to recognize those students who have been inducted into departmental honor societies (Alpha Kappa Delta, Alpha Phi Sigma and Sigma Phi Omega).

If you meet the eligibility requirements for SPO, please pick up an application for membership at Prof. Pryle's office.
