Using Multiple Design Templates

One of the newest features in PowerPoint 2003 is the ability to use more than one design template in your presentation. For example, this new feature could be used to loop multiple presentations to attract visitors at a kiosk

How to:
  1. First select the tab Slides in Normal View.
  2. From the Task Pane menu click on Design Templates and then select one or more slides for the new design.
  3. Choose a template from the Apply Design Template pane. Click on the down arrow to apply the template to the selected slides.

Saving Backgrounds or Selections As Pictures

Saving backgrounds, Clip Art, WordArt, or AutoShapes as pictures no longer requires the use of another program. New save features incorporated into PowerPoint permits saving objects as pictures in different file formats. These new pictures may be added to Microsoft' Clip Art Organizer or in another folder.

How to:
  1. To save a Clip Art, Word Art, or AutoShape as picture first select the object.
  2. If you would like to save the object as a picture in Microsoft's Clip Art Organizer open it now.
  3. Drag the picture or object into the Clip Art Organizer. When prompted give it a name, select the picture format, and then click on the button Save .
  4. To save a slide's background use File > Save As and then select the desired picture format from the Save As Type box.
Custom Animation
  1. Insert a clip art in the slide if one is not present. Choose Custom Animation from the Task Pane.
  2. Click on the inserted clip art and then choose the menus Add Effect > Emphasis > Teeter. Click on the Play or the Slide Show button to review the effects.

Inserting Multiple Pictures

The ability to insert multiple pictures with one mouse click is another new feature in PowerPoint 2003.

How to:
  1. Insert > Picture > File
  2. When the Insert Picture dialog box opens, hold down the Ctrl key and begin selecting the pictures for your presentation.
  3. Click on the button Insert to add your pictures.
Note: Adding pictures that are larger that the placeholder will cause the pictures to stack one on top of the other.
