- Open Excel and in cell "A1" type the months January, February, March, and April.
- Size the cell to fit the contents by placing the mouse pointer between column headings "A" and "B." Double click the left mouse button when the mouse pointer changes to a two-headed arrow.
- Click on the menus Data | Text to Columns to open the "Convert Text to Columns Wizard." then complete the following three steps.
- Click on the radio button "Delimited" for the Data Type and then click on "Next."
- Choose "Space" as the Delimiter. Delimiters are characters used to define the boundaries between plain text.
- Click on "Next" to review your selection or "Finish" to divide the text.
Note: 1) The conversion process only allows one column at a time and 2) remember to check that there are an equal number of blank cells to the right of the selected cell (4 words = 4 cells).
