THE THREE PHASES OF REVISION ARE:  REVIEW AND CHANGE CONTENT AND STRUCTURE; REVIEW AND CHANGE SENTENCE-STRUCTURE AND WORD CHOICE; AND FINALLY REVIEW AND CHANGE MECHANICS: SPELLING, GRAMMAR, AND PUNCTUATION.

     1.  Many people find it helpful to pursue these phases one at a time, allowing some time to elapse before starting on the next phase.

     2.  Many also find that it is easier to see what needs changing, or could benefit from changes, when they are looking at a hard copy, instead of text on a screen.

     3.  Honest critiques from discerning readers and writers is also a good way to locate passages that need improving.
