Students at the University of Scranton may obtain these compiles in a variety of ways for a variety of popular platforms. First of all, if you have a CDROM player on your computer you may borrow the Walnut Creek Ada CDROM, by signing it out from the secretary in St. Thomas room 483. The CDROM may be browsed in a variety of ways, including the use of Netscape. All the compilers are on the CDROM.
Listed below are other methods of obtaining GNAT for several popular platforms:
Note: When copying, be careful about upper and lower case. UNIX is case sensitive.
New versions of the Scranton Data Structure Components are now available.
This package is the first of several Ada resources that we plan to make avilable. The construction of these components began during my 1989-90 sabbatical. They are based on the Booch Ada 83 components and were originally constructed to address two issues: support for safer use of limited private instead of private types and improved iterator support.
Between 1991 and 1995 we received three Software Engineering and Ada Education Grants to develop various Ada resources. In the near future we plan to release additonal resources that were constructed with this support. Many of these resources were originally constructed using Ada83. Since November 1994 these resources have been under various stages of modification to take advantage of the NYU GNAT (Gnu NYU Ada Translator) Ada 95 compiler.
The two data structure suites have been compiled on validated Ada95 systems. The source code and documentation are being modified to reflect corrections that have been made to make the source code in compliance with the feedback we received from the various people wh have run our software on validated systems. The software is then tested on the GNAT Ver. 3.01a (or later) Ada compiler running on SunOS and/or Linux. The resources include:
If you want a zip file of these packages, click here. The zip file contains several sample programs that illustrate how to use the packages and their child units.
With some luck this section will be filled in with access to these materials. Current plans call for this to be accomplished by the end of March, 1996. If your interested, send me and email message, maybe I can provide a copy.
Here are some important Ada pages.
The AdaIC, the Ada Information Clearinghouse is an exhaustive collection of materials on Ada. Below is a access map to their information.
