Research Report

Each student in the class will be assigned to a senior or graduate student enrolled in undergraduate or master’s research. You will be expected to spend a minimum of eight hours with the assigned student and/or the student's mentor learning the basics of the undergraduate research problem. You will prepare a 2-3 page report describing the project, and a five minute oral presentation. The presentations will be presented during the classes of November 28, December 5 and 12, with the order of presentation determined at random. Each presentation must contain at least one image prepared on a computer, using a word processing, structure drawing, or graphics program. Of course, you may do your entire presentation in PowerPoint as well. The paper will be due on December 12, at the beginning of class. Each student must prepare an abstract (one paragraph) of their presentation and transmit this abstract to each member of the class by noon on Tuesday, November 22.

*Students are expected to attend all class meetings. Any absences may affect the student's course grade, and more than two absences will result in the loss of one full letter grade.
