the Proficiency Test utilizing

Please become intimate with the Library Holdings Link (under
Useful Search Engines) and the Electronic Indexes
Link (also under Useful Search Engines). Be able to find a book
or journal in our library by author and title. Also be able to use
Psych Lit, Medline, and Ideal (in Electronic Indexes) to search for relevant
articles. You will be asked to search each of these for Specific
items.

Netscape Communicator (Composer)
New creates a new
blank page for you to work with.
Open opens a pre-saved
html file.
Save saves the current
document you are working on.
Publish this
publishes your work on the Web
Preview will
let you see what your page will look like after it is on the web.
Cut lets you cut
out a part of your webpage and place it somewhere else.
Copy lets you move
a piece of your page although it doesn't leave its original place.
Paste is used in
conjunction with Cut. When you cut something from somewhere, you must
paste it in its new location
Print ,of
course, prints your work.
Find helps
find words or key phrases in your work.
Link makes
a certain item on your webpage a "shortcut" to another webpage.
Target - This
tool is used to add places in your pages where you can jump to other parts
of
your pages. For example,
if I was at the bottom of your page, you could use this tool to send
me back up to the top with
one click. This is useful on pages with a large content.
Image
- This tool is used to place an image on your page. Make sure that the
cursor is
where you want the image
to be placed.
---This
tool is used to add a bar or line to your page.
Table
is used to add a chart to your page.
Spelling
Checks the spelling of words with in your work.
NEXT LINE
The First Square
adjusts heading types.
Second Square
displays and gives you the option to change fonts.
Square With #'s
in it This block indicates the size of the fonts you have typed.
Color Squares
changes the colors of the letters you have typed.
A Bold-faces
the letters you have typed.
AItalicizes
the letters you have typed.
*A*
is used to remove links, fonts, and color styles that you may have added
to your page.
Bulleted List
adds bullets to a column or list such as this one.
Numbered List
adds numbers instead of bullets
Column With the
arrow pointing left decreases your indentation.
Column With the
arrow pointing right it increases your indentation.
Column With the
arrow pointing down drops three pictures to allow you to adjust
alignment.
