Warning!!!
Your number one "honest" mistake will
be
using the words of others without enclosing them in quotation marks. Just changing a word ,
or three, and then simply putting the citation
at the end of a block of material is plagiarism and is an ethical
violation. I've had students say, "But then my entire paper would be in quotations!!" I've had to respond "Then you didn't write the paper you were assigned!" I've had students say that they were taught that it was OK to not quote as long as a few words were changed and the reference, or citation was there. Whomever taught you this writing style is wrong!! Please, give me their names so I can try to get them to stop putting the academic and professional careers of innocent students in jeopardy. It is so wrong to "teach" students to behave unethically.
