Family
I met my wife Yvonne in 1980 and we became bridge partners. After five years of fierce arguments over the game it became obvious that the worst is behind us and we should get married. Our son Daniel was born on October 20, 1993.

Why am I here?

Between 1981 and 1986  I was an officer of the underground movement, Solidarity. The increasing pressure of PZPR (the Polish communist party) [see J.P. Jones, Repressions in Poland, Canadian Mathematical Society Notes, vol. 18, no. 7 (1986) pp.33-36) quoted below] lead me to leave Poland and request American Political Asylum.

Back in 1979, while visiting United States, I took a two week trip from New York to Texas, California, and Washington on a Greyhound bus. On the way back, full of memories from Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone and other unforgettable places I was passing through Pennsylvania and thinking: "If I ever happen to move to the US, I would like to live here".
