Test Position

  • Subject sitting
  • Shoulder neutral (arm at side)
  • Elbow flexed to 90o
  • Stabilize arm
  • Pronate forearm

Normal Range

  • 75o  + or -  5.3o (American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons)
  • 80o (American Medical Association)
  • 75.8o (mean), 5.1o (standard deviation), (Boone and Azen)

Goniometer Alignment

  • Axis – lateral to ulnar styloid
  • Stationary arm – parallel to humerus
  • Moving arm – aligned with dorsum of radius

Normal End Feel

  • Capsular
