  • Subject sitting with forearm resting on table
  • Stabilize forearm to prevent pronation or supination
Normal Range
  • 21o + or - 4o (American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons)
  • 20o (American Medical Association)
  • 21.5o (mean), 4.0o (standard deviation), (Boon and Azen)
Goniometer Alignment
  • Axis – capitate
  • Stationary arm – aligned with forearm (lateral epicondyle)
  • Moving arm – aligned with metacarpal of middle finger
Normal End Feel
  • Ligamentous (ulnar collateral ligament)
