over two adjacent spinous processes

Hold patient's lower extremities as illustrated
- hips and knees flexed 90o

Examiner induces lumbar forward bending by
shifting her pelvis cephaled and caudal

Begin with lowest segment (L5-S1) an proceed
cephaled to examine each segment

Be sure patient is relaxed (no muscle activity)

Patient's lumbar spine is neither rotated
nor side bent

Patient's knees supported by examiner's cephaled
inguinal or abdominal region - firmly support patient between palpating
hand and inguinal region

Therapist supports feet as illustrated

Position table height so cephaled elbow is
relaxed
