JOB DESCRIPTION ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES

The purpose of this assignment is to develop a job description that would be appropriate for hiring or job assignment purposes in industry. Assume you are a physical therapist consultant who has been retained to develop a job description for an employer. Start with the job for your Case Report assignment. Use the O'Net site and any other resource that you care to use to gather data about the job. Provide the following information:

  1. Job Title (this may be identical to O'Net title, but it may be more meaningful to develop a specific title for the local workplace)
  2. O'Net Standard Occupational Classification title and code number
  3. O'Net Snapshot Description
  4. List the O'Net Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Activities, and Context for this job. List all factors that are rated at least 50 on the importance or frequency scales.
  5. Narrative Job Description (focused for the local workplace - use the O'Net data to develop this)
  6. List the Essential Functions of the Job. These are the minimum tasks that someone must be able to perform to hold this job. Be as specific as possible with weights, frequencies, etc.
  7. Physical Demand Level (sedentary, light, medium, heavy, very heavy)
