Healthcare News

    The Health Professions Organization (HPO) is a pre-health student organization at the University of Scranton. HPO supports and encourages the students of The University of Scranton in their endeavors to enter the health care industry as physicians, dentists, podiatrists, optometrists, chiropractors, and veterinarians.

  • "Embracing the Jesuit Identity"
    Jonathan Jordan Miller, a 5th year M.D. / Ph.D. student at Georgetown University School of Medicine will present "Embracing the Jesuit Identity" on Thursday, May 10th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in The Patrick and Margaret DeNaples Center, Room 405. Jon will discuss how his educational experience at Georgetown helped him embrace the Jesuit identity. Interested students must RSVP to Ms. Joanne Reichle via e-mail at: joanne.reichle@scranton.edu
  • Summer Research Opportunity
    For pre-med/pre-vet/pre-dent students, the application for the Steven R. Sawyer Memorial Research Award for the Summer of 2012 is available here.
  • Drexel University: Summer Research Opportunity
    The Drexel University School of Public Health is pleased to announce paid ($4000) summer research opportunities for undergraduate students. The Opening Doors Program, a health disparities research training program, at the Drexel School of Public Health will accepting application beginning February 24 from students who will be juniors or seniors in the fall of 2012. Information about the program is available here.
  • MCAT Registration for June to September 2012 is now open.
    As of 10:00 a.m. February 15th, MCAT registration for June to September of 2012 is now officially open.
  • Marian J. Wettrick Foundation: Financial Assistance
    The Marian J. Wettrick Charitable Foundation is offers financial assistance (in the form of grants) to qualified female students from a PA university who have gained admission to a PA medical school. Please find more information here
  • AED (Alpha Epsilon Delta) Application Available
    Alpha Epsilon Delta applications are open to students with three semesters of college course work who have a GPA of 3.2 or higher. Click here to access the application.
  • HPEC Information for 2013 Matriculants
    An updated guide for students seeking matriculation in 2013 and an updated faculty recommender form is available.
