The following former HPO Officers are now in professional school. They have volunteered themselves to be contacted with any questions that you may have.

Edward DelSole (edward.delsole@med.nyu.edu), class of 2009, was the President He is currently in the M.D. program at New York University School of Medicine in New York, NY.

Tom Churilla (tchurilla@tcmedc.org), class of 2009, was the Vice President of Presentations. He is currently in the M.D. program at The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, PA.

Coral Stredny (strednyc2@gmail.com), class of 2009, was the Research Chair. She is currently in the M.D. program at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA.

Alexandra Biga (abiga001@umaryland.edu), class of 2009, was the Vice President of Service. She is currently in the DDS program at the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in Baltimore, MD.

Meg Mathewson (mathewsonm@gmail.com), class of 2009, was the Secretary. She is currently in the MD program at The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, PA.

Jason Stankiewicz (stankiewicz.jason@gmail.com), class of 2009, was the Webmaster. He is currently in the M.D. program at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. He gladly hosts Scranton students interviewing at Philadelphia schools.

Andrew Notarianni (apn3@georgetown.edu), class of 2008, was the President. He is currently in the M.D. program at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.

Kaci Haines (khain002@umaryland.edu), class of 2008, was the Vice-President of Presentations. She is currently in the M.D. program at University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD.

Cassie Zagorski (cassandraza@pcom.edu), class of 2008, was the Vice-President of Service. She is currently in the D.O. program at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. 

Jesse Kiefer (kieferj2@gmail.com), class of 2008, was the Treasurer. He is currently in the M.D. program at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, IL.

Eamon Filan (eamonfi@pcom.edu), class of 2008, was the Webmaster. He is currently in the D.O. program at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.

Ashley Gonsky (agonsky@dental.upenn.edu), class of 2008, was the Pre-Dental Chairperson. She currently attends University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.

Drew Shiner (dcs52@georgetown.edu), class of 2007, was the President. He is currently in the M.D. program at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington D.C.

John Mercuri (john.mercuri@med.nyu.edu), class of 2007, was the Webmaster. He is currently in the M.D. program at New York University School of Medicine in New York, NY.  

Michael Quartuccio (michael.quartuccio@jefferson.edu), class of 2006, was the President. He is currently in the M.D. program at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA.

Neil Patel (neilpatel84@gmail.com), class of 2006, was the Vice-President of Service. He is currently in the M.D. program at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington D.C.

Colin Flannery (flanneryc2@gmail.com), class of 2006, was the Vice-President of Presentations. He is currently at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.

Paurush Shah (paurush.shah@jefferson.edu), class of 2006, was the Secretary.  He is currently in the M.D. program at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA.

Kevin Hauck (kevin.hauck@temple.edu), class of 2006, was the Treasurer. He is currently in the M.D./M.P.H. program at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.

Sol De Jesus (dejesuss2@hotmail.com), class of 2006, was the Webmaster. She is currently in the M.D. program at Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico.

Sam Cherra, class of 2006, was the Research Coordinator. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. 

Vanessa Recio (reciov2@scranton.edu), class of 2006, was the Pre-Dental Chairperson. She is currently a Health Administration graduate student at The University of Scranton in Scranton, PA.

Kristin Riley (kristin.riley@gmail.com), class of 2005, was the President. She is currently in the M.D. program at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA.

Greg Dodson (dodsongm@gmail.com), class of 2005, was the Webmaster. He was in the D.O. program at UMDNJ-SOM (University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - School of Osteopathic Medicine)in Stratford, NJ. He is currently participating in a rotating osteopathic internship at Crozer-Keystone Medical Center, to be followed by an Anesthesia Residency at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ in July 2010.

Jennifer Koehl (jkoehlvmd@gmail.com), class of 2004, was the pre-vet coordinator. She is a 2008 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Jennifer now practices small animal medicine in Chester County, PA.

class of 2004, was the Peer Mentor Program Director. He is currently in the M.D program in Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC.

Dario Englot (englot@gmail.com), class of 2003, was a Web-Developer and Research Coordinator. He is currently in the M.D./Ph.D. program at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT.

Bobby Davis (davisr9@scranton.edu), class of 2003, is a former President. After graduation,
he defered his acceptance to the M.D. program at the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, for one year and volunteered at St. Joseph's Preparatory School in Philadelphia, PA, as a biology teacher. In 2006, Bobby left Georgetown and returned to The University of Scranton in Scranton, PA. He is currently working in Institutional Advancement as the Assistant Director of the Pride, Passion, Promise Campaign.

Steph Tessing (stephanie.tessing@cchmc.org), class of 2003, was the Vice President of Service. She was in the M.D./M.P.H. program at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She is now a Pediatrics resident at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH.

Jesse Kayal (wik9013@nyp.org or jesse.kayal@gmail.com), class of 2003, was the Co-Vice President of Presentations. He was in the M.D. program at UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicinein Piscataway, NJ. He is currently a third year chief resident in family medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center.

Gina Ruggierio (GMR003@jefferson.edu), class of 2003, was the Secretary. She was in the M.D. program at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA.  She is now in residency. 

Deidre Lynn (deirdreklynn@gmail.com), class of 2003, was the Publicity Coordinator and Student Government Liaison. She was in the D.O. program at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She is now an Internal Medicine resident at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, MA. 

Jed Gonzalo (jgonzalo@bidmc.harvard.edu), class of 2002, was the Secretary. He graduated from the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA, in 2006. Currently, he is in the Internal Medicine residency program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard in Boston, MA.  

Mark Fitzgerald (mpf3y@virginia.edu), class of 2002, was a Web-Developer for the HPO. He is currently in the M.D./Ph.D. program at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, VA. He has interviewed students for the M.D./Ph.D. program, and he encourages questions from students interested in this dual-degree. 

Chris Jones (Christopher.A.Jones@duke.edu), class of 2002, is a former President. In 2006, he completed the M.D. program at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, where he sat on the Committee on Admissions for one year. Hs is currently in the Internal Medicine residency program at Brown University in Providence, RI. In July 2009, Chris will start a fellowship in Geriatrics and Palliative Care at Duke University in Durham, NC. He is happy to help Scranton students figure out which experiences and opportunities will make them the most desirable applicants to medical school.


April Troy (puscavagea2@yahoo.com), class of 2002, is a former Vice-President of Service. She completed her M.D. degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicinein Baltimore, MD. She completed her M.P.H. at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is now a Pediatrics resident at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in the Community Health Track.

She was a DO/MBA, graduate from combined DO/MBA program at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and Saint Joseph's University, Philadelphia. She is currently Chief Resident at the Saint Joseph Family Practice Residency in Reading, PA.
