Adapted by Frank Galati
From the novel by John Steinbeck

Winner of the 1990 Tony Award, this stirring adaptation of John Steinbeck's epic novel fills the stage with humanity and the depression-era stretch of Route 66 between the Dust Bowl of Oklahoma and the Promised Land of California. The familiar story of the indomitable Joad family remains an inspiration to the grit and determination of human resolve in challenging times. Originally presented by The Steppenwolf Theatre Company of Chicago , this production is in collaboration with Scranton Reads; One Book, One City and The Big Read , and is partially funded by a grant by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council .
