AN EVENING OF ONE ACT PLAYS December 6-9, 2007 |
Our Mother Who Art on Earth Our trip continues south to Latin America for a generational exploration of the “human cost of enforcing rigid social roles”. This uplifting drama is the world premiere production of the play by Ana Isaru, winner of the Aquileo Echeverria National Award for drama (Costa Rica's equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize), and is translated by University of Scranton professor, Linda Ledford-Miller. The companion piece, A Thousand Cranes , takes us east to Japan for the moving true story of Sadako Saski, a twelve-year-old suffering from radiation poisoning as a result of the Hiroshima bombing. Sadako's belief that her health can be restored, by the offering of a thousand origami cranes to the gods, remains an uplifting testimonial to the human spirit and the timeless prayer for peace in our world.
