Minority
Undergraduate Students
The
NIH program provides minority undergraduate students, graduate students, and
students in health professional schools exposure to opportunities in research
careers in areas relevant to cardiovascular, pulmonary and hematologic
diseases. The summer component runs
parallel to the NSF program. Stipends

The
Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) is a four week residential program for
sophomore and junior undergraduate college students interested in health
careers. The goal of the program is to
reach and encourage students early enough in their academic careers. SEP helps increase their qualifications and
competitive standing for admission to graduate and medical schools. The program provides students with the tools
to make the adjustment from an undergraduate experience to professional
school. The tuition-free four week program includes enrichment classes to
improve student’s academic skills and knowledge in the basic sciences, through
seminars and lectures. Stipends and
housing are provided.
Additionally, the SEP offers participants the
opportunity to interact daily with medical students, scientists, physicians,
and other health care professionals.
