Part I "The
Search"
Finding just the right "piece" of
furniture to restore can be a challenge and an adventure.
It's good to have an idea or specific item in mind
when you begin the search.
You may be looking for "just the right little
piece", a table or a small bookshelf to complete the "look" you are
going for in a particular room. Or possibly you are more ambitious and
would like to tackle an entire bedroom suite. Whatever you
decide, a great place to begin your search is at a local flea market or
The Salvation Army Thrift Store. You can find great bargains at
these type of locations. The merchandise changes frequently so
drop by often if you don't find what you are looking for in your first
visit. Another suggestion is to visit some of the many local
antique shops. The shop owners are usually helpful and
may even be persuaded to allow you to step into their back room or
basement
to search for those not so perfect items which require a bit more TLC
to
bring them back to their former beauty.
Once you've found your "piece" you will begin the
next step - discovering what is under all of the paint, grime and
whatever else was previously applied over the original finish.
