Welcome!
This is my little corner of cyperspace for all to see.  It's been a while since I tinkered with HTML and if things look a bit goofy or difficult to get through, please bear with me - I'll get around to fixing them.

My position here at the University is CAD Drafter/CAFM Operator, which quickly translates into drawing facility floorplans via Computer Aided Drafting (CAD, AutoCAD, to be precise) and generating and maintaining databases of the spaces via CAFM (Computer Aided Facilities Management) software, namely, Archibus.  I've been at this since 1994 and have gotten the systems working pretty well, keeping track of over 80 buildings with over 1.8 million square feet of facilities, rooms, departments and I'll be expanding into equipment and personnel - I hope.  As of this writing, I'm using AutoCAD 2002 and Archibus 12 with the Overlay, allowing integration of both drawings and databases.  My databases reside on an HP Proliant server while I use a Dell workstation with a 17" flat panel screen - it was tough giving up my 20" Sony monitor but the rewards in getting back my desk real estate far outweighed the want for a larger screen.  The flat panel is great - nice and sharp way into the corners - very cool for graphics.  And yes, I refuse to give up my Calcomp digitizer - a 12"x18" DrawingBoard III which has been bulletproof since new in '94.  She's a runner...  Output-wise, I'm using an HP 450C color plotter, an Epson Stylus C84 inkjet printer and my trusty (if dated) Dataproducts LZR 1560, 11"x17" laser printer.  I am also responsible for some graphics work and I use a Kodak DX4330 digital camera and a Visioneer flatbed scanner.

Besides facilities, my work also goes into some graphics, support of other departments in need of CAD drawings, setups for events, etc.  On the more 'human' side, I also assist in Orientation (when the students arrive on Campus as freshmen) and Commencement, when they leave us as seniors.   I also have a hand in departmental moves, support of IT stuff within the Physical Plant and help in our Academic Review.  I'm a member of the Data Standards Committee in support of the Banner software used campus-wide, mostly for student records, billing and scheduling of classes.
All told, working here at Scranton has been a very worthwhile and fulfilling experience with true rewards to be gained in simply helping people.  Knowing there are folks who really appreciate your efforts is also gratifying and the workdays truly fly by.  Carpe Diem!

On the personal side, I'm married to the best wife in the world (sorry, ladies!) and the father of four great, goofy kids - "My Three Sons ...and Daughter".  They keep us busy with activities like Marching Band, Little League/Farm League baseball (coaching), Girl's softball, Biddy/Youth Basketball (coaching again) and soccer.  Most importantly, my wife and I stress schoolwork and reading in addition to athletic pursuits.  We've been gratified with the way the kids have taken to reading (from my wife's side, grrrr...) and they've been doing very well in school.  My hobbies include astronomy, home improvement, my 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, military history and modelmaking.
