If you have a checking or savings account you can have your return in

as little as 7 to 13 days. Don’t pay hundreds of dollars just to get your

refund a week earlier - that’s a waste of money!

In order to complete your federal, state & local tax returns, please bring the following documents with you to the tax preparation site:

r Valid picture ID.

r All W2’s. + 1099’s

r Social Security Numbers or ITIN for yourself and all dependents (e.g. spouse, children - please
bring your children’s social security cards with you).

r Completed W-7’s as appropriate. (Application for Tax Identification Number for individuals
who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents.)

r Last year’s return (optional, but very helpful).

r Any records relating to income & expenses (e.g. business, rental income, dividends, sale of
stock: - you must bring information on the original cost of the stock).

r Personal bank account check (if you would like direct deposit into your bank account ).

r Real estate tax receipts for rent/tax rebate.

If you are a wage earner you may be eligible for as much as $4,716 from the IRS!!!

The EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) is a special tax benefit for low/ moderate income wage earners who work full or part-time. Workers who meet the guidelines may be eligible for as much

as $4,716 from the government, with the average benefit as much as $1,500. In addition, if you
have dependent children, you may qualify for the Child Tax Credit, worth up to an additional $1,000 for each qualifying child.

Below are examples of income eligibility for the Earned Income tax Credit (both earned income and the adjusted gross income must be less than the amounts indicated).

Married filing jointly with more than one qualifying child – up to $39,783

Single taxpayer with with one qualifying child – up to $33,241

SingleTaxpayer with no qualifying children – up to $12,590

Instead of coming to one of the sites listed on the front of this flier you can enter your data online. The Internet address is: www.icanefile.org?caller=587 Taxes are easy to do with I-CAN!TM

E-File and you don’t need to be a computer expert. Answer a few questions and I-CAN!TM E-File will prepare your tax forms for you and E-File them if you wish and if your return can be electronically filed.

Need access to the Internet. No problem. call the United Way of Lackawanna County to set up an appointment to use one of their computers: tel. 343-1267 ext 221 - starts mid to late January.
