A target of 80 individuals
will participate in this study by responding to questions in ads placed in local
newspapers
o
Have you been subjected to childhood sexual abuse?
o
Do you think you were subjected to childhood sexual abuse?
o
Do you have no memories of childhood sexual abuse?
·
Eligibility will be evaluated, informed consent provided and an
interview will be an assessment tool for placing each participant into one of
four groups
o
Control Group : No memory
of abuse
o
Continuous Group : Consistent memories of abuse
o
Repressed Group : No memories but believed they were abused
o
Recovered Group : Recall
memories from childhood abuse in adulthood
Materials

Vividness Questionnaire for imagined actions, ratings based on
the VVIQ scale
·
Twenty- seven objects used to perform actions from a 54 item
generated action list
· Recognition and Source Monitoring Questionnaire
Procedure
·
Session 1 : 36 action statements will be read to the group
o
18 performed actions with objects
o
18 imagined, for these imagined actions participants will rate
the imagined action on a VVIQ scale
·
Session 2: will be done 24 hours later, 54 action statements
will be read to the group
o
18 previously performed with objects
o
18 previously imagined
o
18 new actions
·
Session 3: will take place 2 weeks later to answer two questions
o
Recognition Question “Was this action presented in Session 1?”
o
Source Monitoring Question “If yes, was this action performed or
imagined?”
