This is a sketch of a coronal section of a rat brain. The sections were cut using a freezing microtome and then were placed on slides. The tissue was dyed with a Nissl stain which stains the soma. Here is a picture of the actual tissue that was traced. Below is a list of terms and abbreviations that are useful.
